From Tech Entrepreneur to Life Coach

A Story of Personal Transformation, Business Building and Branding

Imagine transforming from a tech entrepreneur to a life coach – sounds like a leap, right? Well, Maia's story is all about that incredible transition.

I first met Maia on a plane to Greenland on a Wayfinders trip in 2021 (if you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know about the wild adventure trips I’ve been on).

Our connection deepened over a week spent in Greenland's icy wilderness, and it wasn't long after our return that Maia decided to take her new business from idea to reality.

I want to share her inspiring story about transformation, new beginnings, and the power of branding in shaping not just a business, but a life.

Maia's journey is not just about switching careers – it's about rediscovery.

After selling her tech business, Wild Apricot, she dove into exploring the world, nurturing her family, and more importantly, understanding herself. This time of introspection led her to a profound realization: her passion lies in helping others navigate their life's complexities.

Yet, this journey wasn't without its challenges. Maia grappled with imposter syndrome – was she knowledgeable enough? Could she really do this? Was she truly prepared?

Stepping into a new identity brought its share of nerves and uncertainties.

It's a common hurdle many face when embarking on a radical change, especially after achieving success in a completely different field.

This is where our branding process played a crucial role – it wasn't just about creating a visual identity; it was about helping Maia articulate her vision, solidify her confidence, and embrace her new journey with Life Actually.

Our adventure began with Brand Camp where we helped Maia translate her inner journey into words – a tagline, brand position, why statement, brand personality and more.

We dove deep – crafting language that resonated with her and the clients she wants to work with.

Here’s the tagline Life Actually: Untangle. Embrace. Live.

She helps people untangle the challenges in their life, remove their masks so they can embrace who they really are, and create profound shifts so they can live life to its fullest.

Amazing what 3 words can say isn’t it?

Bringing Life Actually to Life Visually

After nailing the core messaging, it was time for the visual magic.

Maia's brand needed to reflect her journey and her clients' transformations.

The logo we designed – a solid heart overlaid with a hand-drawn, 'messy' heart, symbolizing the tangled heart we all possess. It's a symbol of the journey from entanglement to clarity and fulfillment.

The colours reflect the personality of her brand (and even match her hair).

And the last piece was designing website – with stunning photographs from Hilary Gauld and copywriting from Janet Nielsen, this site is a beautiful reflection of Maia and her new venture.

Life Actually logo and tagline

“Working with Laura and her team on branding took me on a journey INTO my business. So that not only I could communicate it to the customers with more clarity and resonance - but so that I gained more clarity and confidence with which to bring the level of impact I am here to make.” ~ Maia Buterin
